How Moving Kings Got Started
Marcus Ellison grew up in Independence and spent his first years in the moving business loading trucks for two other Kansas City-area movers before he ever had one of his own. In 2013 he bought a single truck and wrote down a short list of rules he wished those old employers had followed — the biggest one being that the price on the phone has to match the price on the invoice. Renee joined the business in 2016 and now runs the office: she builds the schedule, answers most of the calls herself, and signs off on every written quote before it goes out.
